Blink Sync

Your recordings stop living only in someone else’s cloud. They land in a folder you choose, sorted by camera and date, with names you can search. It runs from the menu bar and keeps working when the menu bar app is closed.

Two jobs on a schedule, one small menu

• Download new recordings — daily, 03:30 by default. Pulls every new clip and image from Blink’s cloud. With a Sync Module 2 and a USB drive, it also collects clips that were only ever saved locally.
• Take a still from every camera — hourly, or 15 minutes to 12 hours. Works whether the system is armed or not, and never arms anything. You can limit it to certain hours and certain cameras.
• Sync or snapshot right now — from the menu bar. The icon changes while a run is in progress, and a failed run shows the last lines of the error.
• Catch up without duplicates. Each sync looks back two days, not one, so a night the Mac was asleep is picked up next time. Files it already has are never downloaded twice.

One camera at a time

Each snapshot round wakes a camera, asks it for a photo, and waits until the new image has actually uploaded before saving it. If a camera never sends a new picture, that round skips it rather than saving the old one again.

Files are named for what they are — front-door_20260913-141502_snapshot.jpg, back-gate_20260913-031247_clip.mp4 — so the folder stays searchable without an index.
